Cultural Living @ Sri Seekar

This 3,000 square-foot apartment, once a blank canvas, has transformed into a stunning colonial-inspired sanctuary that bridges British elegance with the vibrant soul of Asia. Owned by a British lady who has made Hong Kong her home and an avid collector of art and sculpture from across the continent, the residence reflects her deep affinity for Asia’s living vibes, culture, and heritage.

Our design journey began with a vision to celebrate colonial charm while honoring the eclectic art pieces collected over years of travel. Every detail of the project was meticulously curated—from restoring original architectural elements to integrating custom-built furniture that both complements and elevates her art collection. The design gracefully marries traditional colonial aesthetics, such as refined moldings, vintage furnishings, and light, airy spaces, with contemporary touches that speak to modern living. This balanced approach highlights the intricate textures and historical narratives inherent in both British and Asian design sensibilities.

Over an intensive 10-month development period, we transformed the apartment into an engaging space that exudes warmth and sophistication while narrating the owner’s unique story. Large, inviting living areas seamlessly connect with intimate corners designed for displaying collectible art pieces and sculptures. Handcrafted cabinetry, bespoke seating, and uniquely designed elements were interwoven throughout to create a coherent environment that reflects the client’s passion for art and her love for the cultural tapestry of Asia.

The project’s success has been celebrated on an international stage, winning a prestigious accolade at the Asia Pacific Awards (APPA) for ‘Private Residential Malaysia’. This award stands as a testament to the innovative blend of colonial heritage and contemporary art in creating a home that is both elegant and deeply personal—a true reflection of its owner’s journey across continents and her evolving aesthetic sensibilities.
